So wheels were set in motion and a team comprising of ladies against gents (or as they say in Spain Chicas contra Chicos) was formed.

This weekend sees Santa Pola host the Spanish national sea fishing championships... NATIONAL SEA FISHING CHAMPIONSHIPS COME TO SANTA POLA THIS WEEKEND.
This weekend sees Santa Pola host the Spanish national sea fishing championships which will decide who will go on to represent Spain in next year’s world championships in Italy.
Over 100 fishermen will spend Friday evening and Saturday on beaches Gran Play, Playa Lisa and Playa Tamarit with their rod in hand, hoping to snag a big one. The fun starts on Friday evening when the competitors are officially welcomed by the town hall (17.00pm at the castle). At 9.00pm the competition begins on Friday with more throughout the day Saturday until the close at 9.00pm. trophies will be presented at the hotel Polamar (next to the town hall) on Sunday at midday.


ALLOTMENTS IN GRAN ALACANT
The town hall has asked us to remind interested parties that the last date for applying for one of the new allotments (to be in Avda Carabasi) is the 15th of September. With only 18 sites up for grabs it is important to get your application into either the municipal office in GA or to the library. The names will be drawn (lottery style) on the 8th of October, so if you are interested wash your hands and get your name down for a chance of one of these 50 square metre plots.


JELLYFISH ALERT
Because of the recently (extra) high temperatures that we’ve experienced, the Mediterranean has warmed up and our little stretch of coast is, apparently, perfect for jelly fish to come and visit. The problem being that these ones are virtually invisible and offer a nasty and painful sting. The red cross have been attending hundreds of people recently who have been unfortunate enough to bump in to one or two (like me…) but the authorities have asked us to point out that if bathers keep an eye on the swimming flags – any Jelly fish spotted will see them raise the red one.

They are Advisers Bureau Consulting S.L. (ABC)

Please read this post even if you are not aware that you were a client of Aldea Asesores, as there are two important issues that need attention:

1.- If you were indeed a client of Aldea Asesores, I attach the letter that ABC have sent to Aldea's clients. Please read it and note the highlighted paragraph. Unless you send them a letter expressing the contrary, ABC will be your fiscal representative from now on, and charge you their fiscal fees even if you are not filing your tax returns through them. Since Aldea went out of business you may have appointed an alternative fiscal representative, and it is important that you let ABC now, to avoid paying twice for the same service.

2.- ABC have sent this letter to MOST of Aldea's clients, but not to all of them (or they haven't received the letter/e-mail, which is feasible). If you had dealings with Aldea in the past (they may have only assisted you once when you purchased your house and signed the deeds or the purchase tax forms as your fiscal representative), please check your bank account as ABC may charge their fiscal representation fees even if you are not filing your tax returns through them and you may not even be aware of their representation.

If you have been charged ABC fiscal representation fee, haven't received their letter/e-mail informing you of their charges, and for any reason don't wish to continue to use ABC for the handling your fiscal afairs in Spain, please contact ABC direct by e-mail to ABC1@abcsolicitors.com or call them on +34 965712694. Non-resident home owners, please note that it is a legal obligation to have a fiscal representative in Spain, even if you decide not to use them. ABC therefore may charge a fiscal representation yearly fee as long as the Tax Office have them as your appointed tax representative, even if you are not complying with your obligation of filing yearly tax returns.

p.s. ABC's letter mentions an authorisation document which I haven't got and therefore couldn't attach to this post.

Please note there is no wrong-doing on the part of ABC here, as they are only continuing with Aldea's unfinished work and charging for it accordingly. However it is impossible for ABC to know which clients of Aldea have made alternative arrangements since Aldea's appointment and through the problem last year, unless the clients themselves inform ABC.

Up to now i have rented a car from most companies depending on cost etc. I am now thinking of buying a small car to leave at the house and probably get taxis to and from the airport.

Does anyone have any advice or recommendations of were to get a small car and also companies who are good on insurance for no residents and also idealy for any driver or at best about 5 drivers.

I have a 1994 Rover 214 convertible right hand drive on english plates that i would like to give away to a caring person. It can be used as a runner or spares. I had the head gasket done a couple of years ago but in August when we were here it kept over heating, (but it was really hot weather, apparently used to be a common problem) but i have been told if you put a switch to the fan so it is on permanently this cures the problem, other than that we used it every day and have done for 5 years while out in GA. I have brought another car over so the rover is surplus to requirements.
