owners of 3.2f2 shall be recieving a letter from the admnistrators asking if they would be interested in freeview telly.The cost per household shall e approx 280euro and this shall include 2 large sattelite dishes and installation and all equipment.By signing the form doesnt oblige you to go ahead but express an interest.The price s if a certain amount sign up obviusly if less than first thought the amount of money shall rise per household.Let me make it clear no money shall come from the community funds.

hi ian im not sure itll be freeview channels but once paid that s it no monthly payments but i see most have parted with their hard earned cash witht he likes of simulsat and dare i say it telemicro but ive heard its 100%legal so maybe a better idea altogether will post on her when i find out a little more.Someone mentioned getting sky sports is this true.

Too many to list here but if you have a GOOD QUALITY SKY RECEIVER (very important) and a FSFS Card (very important) !!!

Then you will receive nearly all the FREE CHANNELS that you can receive in the UK including:

BBC1
ITV1,2,3,4
CH4
Five
Fiver
Fiver USA
E4
More4
SKY3

+ 100's of others stable 24/7 apart from in very poor weather conditions !

Who is the company thats quoting ?

How many houses need to agree to get that price ?

What equipmnent are they installing (dish size and make etc) ?

Please be "VERY CAREFUL" (i will be able to better advise when you tell me the company) this is not an attempt at us trying to steal the business as we do not get involved with communal installs as they are a NIGHTMARE but i have seen and repaired many, many major COCK UPS installed by some so called LARGE, PROFESSIONAL & LEGAL companies in this area over the last 18 months that have cut corners and the end users have been left with missing MAIN CHANNELS & poor general reception!

I would if you are interested ACT as a consultant / project manager to ensure that you have the correct equipment quoted and installed if required !

You need to ask lots of questions:

Is there any additional maintenance FEE after the initial guarentee period has expired & how long is the guarentee period from installation ?

Is a satellite receiver included in the 280 E and if so which one (very important) if its a NON SKY receiver you will not be able to watch CH4 or FIVE, FIVER, FIVE USA, SKY3 ?

What sized dishes are they installing (very important) ?

Which LNB's are they installing (very Important)?

What distribution amplification systems are they installing (very important)?

What is the distance between the distribution unit and my property (very important) ?

Are they installing NEW CABLES from the distibution unit to each property (very important) if they are utilising existing cables that are in situ then you will have major issues ?

The system that is been installed is for FREE TO AIR channels so there should be no on going charges for watching them but you may find that the company wants an additional maintenance FEE after the initial guarentee has run out in order to continue to offer a call out and repair service "How Much will this be" (very important) NO ONE will provide this service for FREE after any initial guarentee has expired ?

Many other questions need asking as well but far too tecnical to explain on here !

Its very important to do a communal Installation properly with no corners CUT AT ALL !!!!!!

Using a company because you like the LOW PRICE is a MASSIVE MISTAKE that lots of communities have fallen foul of recently and are now paying to fix the shortfalls of the initial system they had fitted !

There are so many differences in equipment available that would not be obvious by appearance alone that can have a major impact on the END result and if you do not know the technical performance of these items its easy to get the wool pulled over your eyes..............

Even basic things like CABLE SPECIFICATION can have a MASSIVE IMPACT on your channel reception & stability and this is an area where many companies have cut corners in order to save significant amounts of money due to the amount used on a large installation !

One of the reasons we stopped quoting for Community Installations was because we always use the BEST possible equipment available in todays market place to ensure maximum performance and this comes at a price and we just could not compete with others offering inferior set-ups at a much lower price, the custoimers have since realised that they made a MISTAKE and some of them have come back to us with EGG on their face to ask us to sort it out for them later.........

hi price isnt important here weve been here too many times before just want telly and be able to watch without no signal popping up everywhere.I will ask these questions and see wats happening but we are still at the early stages so we will see.

The best and easiest way to check out the companies that you are considering is ask them to supply the name & contact numbers of 4 or 5 presidents from other communities that they have done full communal installations for !

If they cannot supply at least 4 then i would not touch them as they obviously do not have enough experience or sufficient positive references to demonstrate their suitability............

Any decent company that does a GOOD JOB & USES quality equipment will not mind and will happily supply the above !

I would also be tempted to go and check out one or two of these communities and ask 3 or 4 actual end users what their experiences are since the installation !

Our property is on lower Monte Y Mar and we have just had a communal TV system installed. 72 properties initially signed up for the system on our poli so the price was divided by that number and we paid around 280€ per house plus the cost of a free sat box. We brought a sky+ box over from the UK and it works fine, although you do need a second cable for a +box or HD box and that cost a further 50€. A few more home owners have shown an interest so the money they paid will be used to build a fence around the dish. We get enough channels to keep us happy and there are no more monthly payments. Our communal TV system is fibre optic and the picture quality is excellent.
